Barryville, New York, and the Delaware River

The Delaware River flowed in front of the Methodist Parsonage in Barryville where my mom grew up. Grandpa Briggs took some photos that I thought were interesting. The first photo was taken from my mom’s bedroom window.

This is my mom (tallest person), her brother Johnny and Johnny’s friend. The Delaware River is in the background.

This is a view of Delaware taken from Pennsylvania side. The Barryville Methodist Parsonage is marked by a star. The Methodist Church is to the right. The old Baptist church is on the far right.

From my mom regarding the second photo:
…the ice jam in the Delaware River.  That’s what that was behind us along the river.  Each year they took bets as to when they thought the ice jam would break up and start clearing the river going to wherever it went to!  It’s quite an exciting time of year—a break from the long cold snowy winter.
